Getting Started – Surfing takes you to new heights as you ride the waves and enjoy the sun and sand. It is truly a different kind of experience. In fact, it will be very hard to explain exactly what it feels like until you’ve tried it. But before the excitement gets you and makes you want to grab your Surfing Board and go right away, you need to make sure that your mind and body are up for the job. Preparation is necessary if you want to have a great time riding the waves. In this section, know what to do to prepare your mind and body for this activity:

  • Surfing is a physically-demanding activity, which means that you need to work out those muscles and improve your strength, endurance, and overall agility. Do some exercises which target your upper and lower body muscles. Get into shape and stay fit so you can have a Safe Surfing experience.
  • Go swimming and you’ll hit two birds with one stone. Swimming is a great full-body exercise which you can include in your training program and at the same time, being a good swimmer is a must in Surfing. This will ensure your safety while out in the sea. Try swimming in open water so you will have a good feel of it.
  • Do some warm-up exercises and stretch those muscles before heading out to the sea. Warming up will greatly reduce chances of muscle injury.
  • Going to a reputable Surfing school is a great idea. Learn the basics of the sport from a certified instructor and do the techniques the right way. Having a good groundwork of this activity will make the learning process easier.
  • Have a better understanding of the Surfing Dangers. Always be on the safe side so you can surf better for a longer time. Moreover, get familiar with the Surfing Rules & Etiquette so you will know what to do and what to avoid when riding the waves.

Of course, if you have fears of the ocean, you need to overcome it if you want to try Surfing. Know the essentials of the activity and be a good swimmer. As a safety guideline, do not surf alone. Have a positive state of mind and do not let fear keep you from doing this activity. Get over it and have fun!

Preparation can do a lot to ensure your safety and enjoyment in the water. It requires some work on your part but eventually you will realize that undergoing fitness training will be well worth it. Have a sound mind and body so you will be able to surf better for longer.
